Early Childhood Program
Faith Christian School’s Pre-K and Kindergarten programs are designed to meet the needs of the whole child. The teachers provide a loving, nurturing, structured environment to optimize student learning. Every day begins with a Bible story to encourage spiritual growth and development. Children participate in a richly phonetic-based reading program and learn basic math skills using manipulatives. Children are taught manuscript handwriting, which is a skill that is not taught formally in many schools today. These educational activities play an important role in the intellectual development of each child.
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten classes visit the library and computer lab weekly, and also use the Elementary iPad lab weekly within the classroom. These classes reinforce reading and math skills that have been taught in the classroom. Each child participates in our Faith Friends Program, which pairs a kindergarten student with a high school mentor and they participate in a variety of activities together during the school year. Other kindergarten activities include field trips, chapel programs, Career Day, Teddy Bear Day, Dr. Seuss Day, and Space Day, as well as many other specialized educational events.
Our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs offer a half-day or whole-day option for parents. All academic curriculum, library, and iPad lab times are completed within the morning hours for our half-day children. Parents that enroll their children for the whole-day program enjoy all the same benefits as the half-day students, with an additional enrichment learning time after lunch.
We believe that play is a very important part of a child’s development. A child’s emotional, social, and physical maturity comes as a result of guided outside play, creative play, fine and gross motor activities, as well as music and movement activities. It is our desire for each child to develop the gifts and talents the Lord has given him and to serve the Lord and others in our global community. Our ultimate goal is for each child to love God and love learning.
