Upper Elementary

The upper elementary school consists of grades four and five and we use the team teaching approach to make the transition into middle school easier and to provide a variety of instructors and instructional strategies each school day. The students change classes during the day and our teachers work closely together to provide a consistent, quality education in all subject areas.

Our annual participation in the Science Olympiad has been a part of a larger project to emphasize "hands-on science" in the upper elementary curriculum.  This approach of teaching science focuses on discovery through experimentation as opposed to drawing conclusions from reading a textbook.  This allows students to develop skills of deductive and inductive reasoning that can be applied to a wider range of educational fields of study.

Fourth and fifth grade students attend a daily physical education class where they are taught the concept of healthy athletic competition as well as skill development in various sports. They also attend weekly computer and music classes.

Students in grades four and five have Bible instruction daily and attend chapel one time each month. Each grade is responsible (under the supervision of a classroom teacher) for leading a chapel service during the year.

Each grade participates in a variety of field trips that are integrated into the curriculum to enrich learning experiences. At Faith Christian School it is our goal to provide an exceptional education using a Biblical perspective that will equip our students to serve God and others in a global society.
