Lower Elementary School
The lower elementary school contains grades one through three. Each class is self- contained with one teacher for each group of students. We strive to teach children using a Biblical world view and teach Biblical principles in every subject.
Each day class begins with a Bible lesson about different characters in the Bible. Students attend chapel twice a month; one of these chapel services is a time for the Bible Sword Drill Competition. This helps the children learn the books of the Bible in an enjoyable way.
In the lower school a strong emphasis is placed on reading, language arts, and math. We spend time each day working on reasoning skills and mechanics of learning how to read and comprehend passages as well as focusing on many strategies in math such as recall, concepts, strategic reasoning and extended reasoning. We also formally teach manuscript handwriting in the first and second grades and cursive writing in the third grade. Science and social studies units are also taught in these grades.
At Faith Christian Elementary School, our enrichment programs allow the students opportunities to grow and mature in many areas. Grades one through three visit the library each week and participate in the Accelerated Reading Program. These classes meet in the computer lab each week for reading or math enrichment. They also attend music class weekly and are instructed by a teacher who is certified by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
We believe that children learn social skills and conflict resolution when playing on the playground, so all children in the lower school have a daily recess time. Daily physical education class allows students in grades one through three to develop gross motor skills and healthy competition skills. These experiences out of the classroom allow students time to relax and take a break from the rigorous academic program we provide.
Faith Christian Elementary School is a wonderful, loving, safe place for children to develop spiritually as well as academically.
“Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman who needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
