Journalism

The primary purpose of the Journalism Department at Faith Christian School is to develop a basic knowledge of journalism culminating in publishing the Faith Christian School yearbook.  In order to accomplish this goal, students develop basic journalistic skills such as techniques of the interview, various styles of writing, the process of editing, marketing and advertising, and computer publishing.

In recent years, the FCS Journalism program has been honored by having its 2012 Our World and 2013 Time Lion yearbooks recognized in Jostens' Look Book. The Look Book is a national publication which showcases yearbooks that exhibit excellence in quality and creativity. Fewer than 1% of yearbooks are chosen each year to receive this honor.

Mrs. Jenkins and The Lion staff have also recently been awarded a technology grant by Jostens which allows the staff to create the yearbook using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop in the cloud via the Monarch program, giving the students the ability to work with premier products that are known and used throughout the design and publishing industries.
